Dear Healey School Community,

A couple weeks ago, we asked you to support the Healey School’s distinctive experience- and project-based learning. I hope that letter made it into your hands and that you haven’t forgotten about it!  Today, I wanted to share some insight into how this money is spent.

For example, did you know that bus transportation to and from Nature’s Classroom for nearly 40 fifth graders alone cost $800 last year? If 16 of you gave $50 each, that would eliminate the barrier of transportation between the fifth grade class and a week of outdoor scientific learning.

Your donations go directly toward making these enriching educational experiences accessible to all Healey students. So please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of Healey Annual Fund to help keep these programs going. There are three easy ways to do so:

  • Make out a check to “Friends of Healey” and deliver or mail  it to the Healey front office via the envelope enclosed with the flyer sent home in your student’s backpack.
  • Make a one-time or (even better) a recurring payment online via the Friends of Healey website.
  • Ask your workplace to make a matching contribution to your donation

Another great way to get involved is by volunteering with ArtsFest, our biennial fundraising event to be held May 3, 2020. This critical event is a way to solicit support from the businesses of Somerville, but it can only happen with your help! To learn more contact volunteer@healeyfamilies.org.

Thank you so much for your support.

Sincerely,

Luke Miratrix
