If you’re looking for a way to support local families, the Somerville Family Learning Collaborative’s (SFLC) Community Clothing Closet is in urgent need of new or gently-used winter hats, gloves, boots, pants, and jackets for boys and girls from preschool through high school. Located in the Cummings School building at 42 Prescott Street in Somerville, the Clothing Closet is available to students and families associated with the Somerville Public Schools. The Clothing Closet is open to receive donations on Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. (except during school vacations or closings).
Francia Reyes, the SFLC’s Basic Needs Liaison, explains, “Each week, the Clothing Closet assists an average of 25 Somerville families.” It is open to the community every Thursday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Francia can also receive donations and work with families by appointment outside of the noted hours. She can be reached at 617-625-6600, x6994 or freyes@k12.somerville.ma.us.
