All Somerville Public Schools will host Open Houses from Wednesday, December 5  to Friday, December 7. This is an opportunity for families to visit schools as part of their decision-making process for the 2019-20 school year. We need help to make our Open House a success and show off the special community we have!

To that end, we are look for:

1. Tour Guides
We have a tradition of current Healey parents giving tours to prospective families. Tours will be held Wednesday (12/5), Thursday (12/6), and Friday (12/7) from 8:30-1:30. You don’t need to stay all day nor come all three days. Any available time you have, even an hour, would be helpful!

You don’t need to be an expert on the on the Healey to lead a tour. The most important things for a successful tour leader is a warm and welcoming presence and speaking from your (and your child’s) own positive experience. If you can do that and also wander the halls, pointing out interesting things like shared facilities (gym, cafeteria, library, etc.), then you will do great! Truly! We will provide general school information and speaking points to guide you. Also, we will have a current Grades 5 to 8 student paired with you so you can count on a young Healey expert to help out.

It would be great to have some current kindergarten families giving tours, too! Although you are new and maybe feel like you are still learning the ropes, you can speak best to prospective families since you’ve just gone through the experience of choosing a school most recently.

2. Refreshments
We need refreshments for all three mornings of the general Open House (Wednesday, December 5 to Friday, December 7). We will provide coffee, but need other food and drink for all three days.

3. Promotion
We need someone to send messages out to social media and online communities like Somerville Moms, somerville-4-schools, and Somerville activities message boards. Email Debbie Leopold if you are interested.

I know we are asking a lot and your time is valuable but this is an important week for the school and any help will go a long way so please consider pitching in.

Please contact Debbie Leopold if you have any questions.
